What is the best design for a birdhouse for one pigeon that has decided to live on my house roof?

Answer: Pigeons do not nest in bird houses. They nest in bowls or boxes (well, not in the wild of course but as far as what people can provide them), sort of like canaries nest in bowls. You can place a shallow box or bowl up there to provide the nest with some support. It only needs to be a few inches deep, and no bigger than a square foot around is needed.

In case ye interested, I might point out that Bird Control is a whole specialised branch with the field of Pest Control. Especially when ye dealing with such deterrent procedures. There’s usually a lot more to it than slapping down a couple of spikes. The health and safety aspects alone are just plain scary.

However, perhaps you’re just looking at a window sill outside a ‘safe’ window or something? Maybe ye just wondered what the things were called 🙂
