Should We Buy a Pet or Adopt a Pet?

You always hear people telling you to adopt a dog instead of buying one. Well, from what I have seen and what I have been through it is almost impossible to adopt a pet. They want to make a home visit, pay large amounts of money (which comes out to be more than buying a cat or a dog), and they want to know personal information. Hello people. If you are so into wanting people to adopt pets, lower the cost and make less restrictions. I say we should all get our pets from a breeder because it is 10 times cheaper.

Answer: No, I adopted from an animal hospital. It’s really not like that. It’s alot cheaper than buying one, my kitten was 40 dollars and that was shots and getting him spayed when time. They definitely don’t come to my house. I don’t think they asked me one question either. And my daughter loves her. Look into it at least before you go buy an animal from a breeder, seeing those animals that are so precious there and realizing they are going to die soon if someone doesn’t save them, you are saving a life and the feeling that comes with that is priceless. Just go to the animal hospital!

How long after spaying a female rabbit until I can put her with a non-neutered male rabbit?

The female rabbit grew up with the male rabbit. I took them both to the vet to be neutered, however, he said the male one wasn’t old enough. Now I have one spayed female rabbit (a week ago) and one non-spayed male rabbit. The vet said I need to wait another month or two before the male with be old enough to be neutered.

Answer: I would wait until the females incision is completely healed. Even though the male is too young to be neutered…if he were to get too amorous and “hump” on the female he could injure her. We usually wait about 4 weeks before we re-introduce our bunns after a spay. Make sure to check the females incision…if it is still “raw” looking wait for another week or two!
In the meantime…if you are worried about their bond breaking, which can happen sometimes, try housing them side by side so they can groom through the bars of the cage but not have total access to each other!

Rabbit Acting Weird

My rabbit is acting weird she wont come out of her cage and shes always bitting me. Whats wrong with her?

Answer: You can take your rabbit to the vet to get her spayed. That will help any hormonal problems. Also, it will significantly decrease her chances of ovarian/cervical cancer. If you want your rabbit to have a long healthy life, I highly recommend getting her spayed.
A second benefit to getting your rabbit spayed/neutered is that they will not want to build a nest (and dig up your carpet, make a hole in your couch) or mark their territory by spraying urine.
Or perhaps there’s been changes to her environment that are making her scared or unconfortable. Any new pets? New sounds? New smells? New people?
Also, remember that most rabbits don’t like being held. They are prey animals so when they get picked up, they feel as if they’re being carried off by a predatory bird. Scary for them.
If you’re going into her cage to pick her up, and she’s biting you it’s a clue to leave her alone. Most rabbits do not like being cuddled.
Many rabbits will become cage protective, just give them their space. It is their natural teritory to defend. Rabbits that have young children frequently trying to play with them can become biters. Young children are not well suited for rabbits and are better off with cats or dogs. Rabbits are fragile by nature, and rarely like being cuddled despite their cuteness.

How Do You If A Cat Is Horny?

My female cat has been acting strange. She throws herself on the floor and meows is it cause shes horny? Also if she is, how long does she stays acting like that?

Answer: She needs to get spayed. How old is she? She must be at least 4 mos. old to get spayed. I *believe* she will behave like this monthly. You will need to spay her when she is not in heat. Call your vet for the details. Be careful, because a cat in heat will go to extreme measures to escape and breed. Keep her indoors where she cannot mate, escape, or run away! There’s not much you can do until you get her spayed.

P.S: My 4 month kitty is getting spayed this saturday!

Why is My Cat Still Horny?

I got my cat spayed about a month ago, but she’s still acting horny! She acts like she’s in heat, and she humps things. Is this normal?

Answer: It takes about 3 months for there hormones to go after operation.
